Kefalonia has a special position on the bucket list every traveler who know to appreciate beautiful and distinguishing destinations. Therefore we have thought of an island tour which includes the best highlights of the island of Kefalonia. First we make a stop at the Fanari lighthouse, landmark of the capital of Argostoli built by the English at the beginning of the 19th century. Then we learn about the geological phenomenon of Katavothres sinkholes where the water through cracks in the ground follows a big journey and finally flows at the other side of the island where Melissani Lake is. Before we get there, we visit St. Georges castle the capital of the island during the Venetian occupation, a building with 500 hundreds years of history and breathtaking view. Then we head towards Drogarati Cave where the millions of years old stalagmites and stalactites will leave you absolutely speechless. Nearby is located the spectacular underground Lake of Melissani where you can enjoy a boat ride under the surface of the earth and listen to the stories that the boatmen are willing to tell you. A couple of minutes later we reach the colorful traditional village of Agia Efimia and take some rest before you make unforgettable photos above Myrtos beach, the truly diamond of Kefalonia. It is not easy at all to describe the beauty of that beach while you admire the endless blue of Ionian Sea. Finally we head to Fiscardo, a village where numerous buildings have been maintained attached by the devastating earthquake of 1953. The visitor can admire the traditional architecture of the island and take a relaxing walk through the village to buy souvenirs or just for leisure time.
